Have you ever wondered what action you can take to reduce your risk of cancer? The BUMPER project has launched five new factsheets, available in multiple languages, illustrating essential evidence-based recommendations from the European Code Against Cancer.
One of the main goals of the BUMPER project is to address different target audiences according to the level of Health Literacy (HL) and inequalities perspectives. This is the objective of Work Package 4 (WP4) “Addressing Health Literacy Via Engagement of End-users of the EU Mobile App for Cancer Prevention”. This Work Package is coordinated by the Fisabio Foundation in collaboration with the other project partners.
As a part of the WP4 job, the Fisabio team conducted a Europe-spread survey to know the cancer prevention information needs of the population. Based on the survey results they identified 4 cancer prevention topics as areas where there was a lack of awareness among the European population: breastfeeding, hormone replacement therapy, infection and vaccination, and maintaining a healthy diet, physical activity and body weight. The Fisabio researchers also identified a need to disseminate the 4th edition of the European Code Against Cancer (ECAC) and its 12 evidence-based recommendations.
In order to communicate all available information to citizens, the Fisabio team, led by Dr Ana Molina, has designed five visual factsheets covering all the topics identified. These factsheets provide easy-to-understand information and helpful tips to support citizens make informed decisions about cancer prevention. They are available in all official EU languages on the BUMPER website. You can check out and download the factsheets in your preferred language here.
“The factsheets address the identified information needs of the European population. They have been developed based on scientific evidence, using an appealing design, clear and simple language, and providing tips to encourage behaviour change within the population.” – Dr Ana Molina.
Health Literacy and Equity Guide for Digital Health Promotion
Today, digital interventions are increasingly being used to promote healthy lifestyles, and, from a public health perspective, ensuring health literacy and equity throughout their development is essential to avoid exacerbating health inequalities. With this in mind, BUMPER’s WP4 has developed the Health Literacy and Equity Guide for Digital Health Promotion. The guide is aimed at health professionals and encourages them to integrate health literacy and equity perspectives into all stages of the process of creating and implementing digital health interventions. The guide contains a total of 40 evidence-based general recommendations divided into the following subtopics: Transversal recommendations, Research and Evaluation, Design, Validation, Promotion, and Dissemination phases.
The Health Literacy and Equity Guide for Digital Health Promotion has been published by the Fisabio team in collaboration with all the partner projects and it is available on the BUMPER website. You can find the guide here.
