Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan (EBCP) recognises the importance of the ECAC towards improving health in the Union and commits to provide resources from the new EU4Health programme to redouble efforts towards the implementation of the ECAC.

A major action to achieve this goal is the so-called EU Mobile App for Cancer Prevention, which aims to extend coverage and adoption of the ECAC messages amongst a broad and diverse population and across multiple devices, systems, and languages in the EU.

The mandate to design and programme the App itself is the subject of a separate call for a service contract. BUMPER focuses on providing input from experts and practitioners to the design of the App.

The app

The App will aim to influence the audience’s health behaviour by monitoring their behaviour and help them adopt changes, to ultimately work as a tool for cancer prevention through the European Code Against Cancer (ECAC) topics dissemination. For this purpose, it will be customised depending on the group the user belongs to and help people to take concrete actions to reduce their cancer risk. The App recognises the importance of the ECAC as not only the authoritative source of e vidence-based information on cancer prevention in the EU but also as key tool to implement Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan (EBCP).

The ECAC is currently being updated to its 5th edition, coordinated by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). The content of the App will be following the recommendations of the 5th edition of the ECAC.
